Fair Board to Discuss Future Fair Events at Joint Workshop
The Washington County Fair Board, together with members of the Washington County Board of Commissioners, will convene a workshop as a first step toward developing a multi-year plan to guide the way the Fair event is conducted each year. The workshop will be held Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 109 of the former PCC Hillsboro Center on the first floor of the county's Parking Structure at 102 SW Washington Street, Hillsboro.
Workshop participants will also include prospective members of a Fairgrounds Advisory Committee which will be charged with making recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on updating and implementing the Fairgrounds Master Plan, a fairgrounds capital projects plan and other major site-related initiatives. Appointments to the new advisory committee by the Board of Commissioners are scheduled for September 28th also.
County and Fair officials will actively seek additional input from the public about the draft Fair Plan later this fall via meetings with stakeholders and other interested parties.
The collaboration and resource sharing between the Fair and the rest of the county government organization stems from an agreement adopted earlier this year by the Board of County Commissioners and the Fair Board. The Fair and Fairgrounds Agreement is designed to clarify and reinforce the partnership between the Fair Board and Board of Commissioners in support of the annual Fair event and fairgrounds property.

The Washington County Fair event is held each year at the 101-acre County Fair Complex property located at the intersection of NE Cornell Road and NE 34th Avenue in Hillsboro.
