Eat Smart, Waste Less Challenge
Presentation by Brian Stafki, Senior Program Educator, Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling
The Eat Smart, Waste Less Challenge provides easy tips and helpful tools to assist individuals and families in reducing the amount of food they are inadvertently wasting at home. You can save money and contribute to our communities just by reducing food waste. Both locally and worldwide, most people unintentionally end up wasting food. Not only does this hurt us financially, most food waste goes into landfills where it releases methane gas. Methane is more potent than carbon dioxide. As a result, wasting food is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. Brian will talk about the issue of food waste, share some easy-to-do strategies, invite attendees to take the Challenge, and give away free resources to participants.
