Housing Authority's 40th Anniversary

The Board of County Commissioners proclaim August 4, 2010 as the 40th Anniversary of the Housing Authority of Washington County.

The Housing Authority of Washington County was formed on August 4, 1970. The mission of the Housing Authority is to provide affordable housing opportunities to help break the cycle of poverty and improve the quality of life in our community. The provision and maintenance of secure, affordable, accessible housing for vulnerable and low-income residents are vital to the health, safety, and prosperity of our entire community.

The Housing Authority of Washington County is a HUD high performer agency and offers a full portfolio of services to low-income households, to include low-rent public housing, subsidized housing vouchers, family self-sufficiency and homeownership programs. These programs have provided safe and decent housing for low-income workforce families, the elderly and the disabled, and have encouraged these households in our community for forty years to achieve stability and move towards self-sufficiency.
