Chairman Delivers State of County Speech for 2012
In his second "State of the County" speech, Washington County Chairman Andy Duyck addressed the Westside Economic Alliance at 7:30 a.m. on March 22 about his outlook for 2012 and beyond. The speech was held at the Tiger Woods Center at Nike's World Campus.
Washington County is often called the "economic engine" of the state, and the record shows that its businesses continue to play this role. Although not immune from the down economy, Washington County generated 17 percent of the new jobs in Oregon between 2009 and 2010, and our unemployment rate is among the lowest in Oregon.
Chairman Andy Duyck outlined the challenges and opportunities ahead as the County organization serves a dynamic and increasingly diverse community during challenging economic times.
