National Public Works Week - 2014

National Public Works Week proclamation in 05-06-14
News article
Release date: 05/06/2014
Sponsored by: Board of Commissioners

Since 1960 the American Public Works Association has sponsored National Public Works Week. Its 28,000 members use this week to increase awareness of the contributions public works agencies and professionals make in their communities—planning, building, operating and maintaining the infrastructure of our local communities improves our citizens' health, safety, comfort and quality of life. This celebration also offers the opportunity to express appreciation to our public works employees.

The Department of Land Use & Transportation, Clean Water Services, and other local agencies are partnering to tell the story of public works to Washington County residents. A family-friendly Public Works Fair will be held at Beaverton City Park on Saturday May 17 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Agency partners include the county's the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District, the City of Beaverton Public Works Department, Clean Water Services, the Oregon Department of Transportation, TriMet, and others. Public building lobby displays, media releases, posters, newsletter articles and online information will also aid in this educational process.

Read the proclamation.
