Public Health has many roles in protecting people’s lives and supporting and promoting community well-being. We demonstrate this through our day to day work: inspecting restaurants, drinking water systems and child care centers; providing services to women and children through our WIC program and our nurse home visiting programs; overseeing emergency medical transportation; working in partnership to reduce suicide, increase access to integrated care and reduce chronic disease; and investigating and containing foodborne outbreaks and other communicable diseases.
Governmental public health is joined by many community partners in creating a Culture of Health and Well-being for our community and ensuring that Washington County is the healthiest county in Oregon. To honor the work of governmental public health and our community partners we will conduct the 16th Annual Public Health Recognition Awards, April 3, at 11:30 in the Washington Street Conference Center. A reception will follow.
