National Community Development Week
The Board of County Commissioners have joined the National Community Development Association and the National Association of Housing Rehabilitation Organizations in the national effort in proclaiming April 25 – April 30, 2011 as National Community Development Week.
The Board's recognition demonstrates appreciation of the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). For the past 37 years, the Washington County Community Development Block Grant Program has provided the County with important and flexible assistance to meet the needs of its low and moderate-income residents through the funding of neighborhood revitalization, housing rehabilitation, public improvements, flood relief, and social services. The 11 participating members of the County's CDBG consortium are making identical proclamations.
On April 19, 2011 the Board of Commissioners proclaimed National Community Development Week, and authorize copies to be sent to the County's congressional delegation.
