ORIGINAL RELEASE: Following the death of Representative Mitch Greenlick earlier this year, commissioners from Multnomah and Washington counties will hold a joint session to interview candidates and select a replacement for the open position in Oregon House District 33 at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 12.

Oregon law requires that a legislative vacancy be filled by county commissioners representing the legislative district in which the vacancy exists. House District 33 comprises northwest Portland and parts of unincorporated Multnomah and Washington County.

Following a process provided under Oregon law, Multnomah and Washington counties received the following list of nominees from the Oregon Democratic Party, the same political party Representative Greenlick was a member of. The three finalists are:

  • Maxine Dexter
  • Val Aitchison
  • Pamela Kislak

The person selected will fill the remainder of Representative Greenlick’s term, which would have ended on December 31, 2020.

Public comments about any of the nominees should be sent no later than noon on Wednesday, June 10, to Kevin Moss, Washington County Clerk to the Board, at First Avenue, MS-22, Hillsboro, OR 97124, or by email to [email protected].

To provide testimony during the meeting, the public is asked to complete the form found at the web page below and label their comments as being related to the House District 33 appointment. The link to the form can be found here: email://www.co.washington.or.us/BOC/Meetings/How-to-Testify.cfm

The public is welcome to participate and give testimony at the meeting in person or virtually.

The meeting will also be streamed on the Washington County YouTube channel and broadcast by Tualatin Valley Community Television on Channel 30.
