Board of Commissioners release draft equity resolution for public comment
The Washington County Board of Commissioners is currently in the midst of a multi-year initiative to advance racial equity and reaffirm the County’s commitment to an inclusive culture which values and celebrates the diversity of County employees and residents. As a way to formally launch their combined vision and commitment, the Board has developed a draft resolution in which they acknowledge inequities faced by many marginalized groups and the need for change. The resolution also highlights their intention to ensure equitable access to County services, as well as several other action items designed to magnify diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) across the organization and throughout the wider community.
Prior to its formal adoption slated for their February 25, 2020 meeting, the Board invites public review and comment on the draft resolution. Community feedback is strongly encouraged to ensure that the final version of the resolution is a meaningful and relevant guide to create a more inclusive and equitable Washington County for all.
