December 10, 2016 is Human Rights Day

December 10, 2016 marks the 68th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. The Washington County Board of Commissioners joins the Human Rights Council of Washington County in urging all county residents to promote the respect and dignity of all persons through action, advocacy, education and collaboration.

Established in 2006, the goals of the Human Rights Council are to promote human rights as a core value of public and private sectors; to listen to members of marginalized communities who may be fearful about claiming their rights; to provide valuable feedback to local leaders on issues of equity and diversity; to respect and reflect the cultural diversity of our community; and to foster mutual understanding among all of our community's residents.
