More than 90 elected officials from Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas counties have issued a collective call for all community members to refrain from violent protests which have severely impacted downtown Portland over the last three months.

In a letter signed by county commissioners and other elected representatives, leaders acknowledge the need for change and encourage community members to work with their state and local officials to “facilitate a transformation away from racist systems and towards a more equitable, just community.” They also emphasize “zero tolerance for outside provocateurs bringing hate into our communities.”
