In recognition of the many notable contributions that people of African descent have made to our country, the Board of Commissioners has issued a proclamation designating February 1-29 as Black History Month 2020.
The theme “African Americans and the Vote” recognizes the struggle for voting rights for Black Americans throughout our nation’s history and serves as a call-to-action to ensure the rights of all citizens to make their voices heard and their votes to count.
The public is also cordially invited to attend a community event in honor of Black History Month on Tuesday, February 25, co-hosted by Washington County and the City of Hillsboro, 12 – 2:00 p.m. at the Glen and Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 East Main Street in Hillsboro.
